Boys Party

We had a party at the Fun Factory it was fantastic! It was cowboy themed again, of course! :) The kids were able to serve themselves off of a little table filled with, "pup cakes," rattlers, veggies, little weenies, finger lickn' chicken, cowboy dip and biscuits and more. It was so fun and special! Thank you Bristols!!!

I can't believe my little is 4! He is a precious gift! He has a very sensitive heart and is thoughtful and very very funny. He has a huge imagination and loves music. He is very very smart and is still his Mama's boy. One of his favorite things to do is hide and surprise his Daddy when he gets home, then he runs into his arms and gives him a huge hug. He has an amazing memory. He loves Jesus with all his heart and is always talking about Him, singing worship songs (or making up is own). He decided to be a cowboy before he was even two and he is! I have said it is in his heart! He is a cowboy through and through! I was horrified when my parents moved us from Denver to the Grand Valley! My Grandma said a few months ago that Aidan was the only one who could make me a cowgirl and she is right! He wants me to have boots and is praying for a farm and I would love it! I am so thankful for this sweet boy! He is a joy!

Here are some pictures from his birthday. We decorated his room after he went to sleep...which actually went badly at about 3:15am! He woke up and the decorations scared him! But once the lights were on he loved it! For breakfast we had blueberry pancakes in the shapes of As and 4s, a birthday tradition. Because his birthday always takes me to his BIRTH-day their are some picts from when he was a baby too!

It has been a long time since my last blog post!!! What in the world I have been doing!?!?! :) I have been laughing and crying! I have done lots of both. Even when I feel like these three are going to be the death of me I try to find the joy. I try to remember that they are each a precious gift...and then I remember that nap or bed time isn't too far away! Having two 2 year olds is more crazy that I could have ever imagined but it is also more joy too!! I love my three cowboys!

I am going to start with their birthdays and go from there. In between what is going on now I will probably throw in some of what I have missed over the last 2 years.

It has been amazing to go through my blog and read what God has done since I started it!! Wow!

YEE-HAW!!!!! Here's to starting the blogging adventure again! Hopefully I can find time to do it!

I had another ultrasound today and my doctor thinks they might be identical! Both babies measured the same and have strong heart beats. Watching ultrasounds truly shows what an amazing Creator we have.

We had a fantastic Easter! It was also Grandma Mary's 88th birthday. It was a great day to celebrate! This was the first year that Aidan dyed eggs, he didn't really care. It was also the first year he got an Easter Basket. He was very excited. He came out of his room and just stopped in his tracks, dropped his book and stared at his goodies! It was so cute! Most of our Easter basket pictures were fuzzy! But he had lots of fun going though everything from us and Granny and Papa.

After a wonderful church service everyone came out to Mom and Dad's for lunch, games, waffle ball and even a little 4 wheeling.

Aidan will become a big brother at the end of November!!! We just found out on Saturday! God is so faithful! We didn't know if I could get pregnant at all or how long it would take. We are so so excited for this blessing! It was so much fun to announce it using the shirt. It usually to a little while to click. It was so funny! I even surprised Jeff with the shirt and I got it on video! I am trying to post the video but am having lots of problems! If anyone has any suggestions let me know!!

We have had lots of fun playing on the property! Aidan loves to ride, either the tractor or 4-wheeler. He says "ride" all the time! We have been burning all the weeds and having fun!

Congratulations Hogstad's! We are so excited that Stacey Jo is 8 weeks pregnant, tomorrow. Her due date is September 25, 2009. Last week she went to the Dr and had an ultrasound, they were able to see and even hear the sweet little heartbeat. The baby looks healthy and everything is going well. Stacey is sick and really tired! I get to go to an ultrasound with them and Courtney on March 5, I am very excited!! We are looking forward to a new cousin and niece or nephew.

This is Stacey's third pregnancy in a year. She had two miscarriages. It was so sad and they have been very strong, Stacey has said many times that she has two baby's waiting for her in heaven.

Please pray for Nick, Stacey and their precious little one!

Some Birthday Picts!

I had a very nice birthday! My friend Chera and her wonderful kids came over for breakfast. Mom and Jeff tried to surprise me, but didn't! Aidan and I met Courtney and the kids and Jeff for lunch at the Olive Garden. Then we ordered pizza for dinner! Busy day! Much more than I normally do! :)

I can't believe I am 29, I don't really like it. I think I will deal with 30 much better! I have learned a lot about myself this past year! I have learned to rely on God. I know He is in control even when I can't see it! I have also learned to allow others to help me! I am not superwoman and can't do it alone. Thanks everyone for all your help! :) I learned I am pretty good in emergency's when I need to be. I have also learned that I am not as outgoing as I once was! I would rather stay at home with my boys than do anything else. I used to thrive in a big crowd and now I hate them! One thing about me that I know and am working on is I am a people pleaser and I am trying to get better at that! I just want everyone to be happy all the time! I hate when people get mad at me so I try to make EVERYONE happy and that is too hard!! I want be a God pleaser and not a people pleaser, I want to find my worth in what He thinks! So if I say no lots this year please try to understand! We are still recovering from our year and are going to lay low alot! I am also going to try to be better at speaking God's truths even if it offends someone! He is the light, the truth and the way! Sometimes that is hard to hear, but it needs to be heard! I want to grow in my relationship with Christ, be the best wife and mama I can be, become a healthy eater who exercises and I also want to catch up, and keep up, on my scrapbooking! I want to be better at meal planning and cooking healthy. I have a lot of work ahead of me and I am rambling so I better stop now!

So in my 29th year I will continue to learn about myself and grow as a Godly woman! It is hard work, but I see no end in sight! :)

It's Offical

Jeff took a job in Grand Junction at JNK Products, it is the same company that I have worked for 4 years. It is a fantastic opportunity. He will be the operations manager, learning how to run the business. The owner, Justin, is a great Christian man and a wonderful boss. Jeff started last week and is very excited.

Aidan and I stayed home and cleaned, orginized and packed the house. I just packed thnings that we don't use very often. But, it was too hard to be apart for the week. So now we will go down with Jeff during the week and come back to Montrose to work on finishing up here on the weekends.

We would like to sell the house, but are willing to rent it. We will stay with my parents until we do something with our house and can get something of our own. So we will get a shed for my parents house and just move up slowly. It easy to be able to move slow but hard because it is dragging it out!

We love Montrose and our family and friends that we are leaving. Thank you for all of your love and support. Remember that we aren't that far away and would love to see you any time you are in GJ!

Aidan Jeffrey

This sweet boy is officially a toddler. He will just walk around saying no, not being bad or anything (not that that doesn't happen!) but just saying no. He likes to walk around with his cell phone and say hello. He is climbing like crazy, he actually go on to the top of our very tall kitchen table by himself! He went from a storage bin, to the chair, then on top of the table!! He has been trying to snap for a while, but this week he decided to click his tongue when he does it since he can't make the noise with his fingers. He loves his sunglasses and his police car. He started spinning in circles, no one ever showed him! As always he loves dancing and music. He is trying to walk up the stairs like us instead of crawling up them. He is talking like crazy. Likes to kiss every baby he sees (even if it is him in a reflection). He likes to wrestle and hug and kiss too. He will hug and kiss his stuffed animals and then make us do it too. He LOVES his blanky. When he brings or hands us something he says thank you! He knows quite a bit of sign language. He is not screaming as much, thank God! He loves to read. He is so smart and busy!! He is a joy.

1 Year Since Aidan's Accident!!!!!!

THANK GOD! It has been 1 year since Aidan's accident and the worst day (and the next three) of our lives! It was so scary, but through it all God gave us such a sense of peace. I never really understood "peace that passes all understanding".

For those of you who may not know...December 29, 2007, Aidan was two months old and his sweet Daddy was trying to get him a bottle because his Mama was gone. Jeff was testing the milk on his wrist and Aidan wiggled and fell on to the kitchen floor.

Aidan got a CAT Scan that showed he had two scull fractures and bleeding on his brain. He and I flew to St. Mary's Hospital by helicopter. He was in the NICU (baby ICU) for two nights and then on the pediatric floor for one night.

Our family and friends were (and always are) so amazing. We were never alone and everyone took such good care of us when were were at the hospital and after we got home. Thank you all!! We love you!

This summer Aidan had a follow up CAT Scan (he and I actually had one each the same day!) that revealed that his injury's are completely healed! He was in a lot of pain for about two months, but since then he has had no problems at all!

It is hard to believe that I have been scared for my sons life and my own all in one year! Thank you Jesus for being so faithful and bringing us through these times!

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! God has brought us through so much this year that it was extra special to celebrate His Son's birthday! Now that we have our own precious baby boy, it is hard to imagine sending Him to die for everyone! Thank you Lord that you love us so much!

We went to Fruita on Christmas Eve and had a relaxing night with Cyndi's parents. We went to David and Courtney's for a great Christmas breakfast. Then back to the parents for presents and Christmas dinner. We played spoons for dishes. We had a great time! We went to Matt and Tiff's for breakfast the day after Christmas. I will post pictures of that fun morning later when I get them!

Sebaceous Cyst

I had a Cyst removed from my back yesterday. It was sick! It was really big! Like the size of my thumb! There was blood splattered on the wall! It hurt!!!! They are sending it off for testing, even though there shouldn't be anything to it! Better safe than sorry!! :) I tried to post a picture but can't get it off my phone, some of you are probably glad!!

Christmas Time

I LOVE Christmas! I love decorating for Christmas! We get our tree the day after Thanksgiving. I love that I always forget the decorations I have and how I get so excited when I see them and remember.

We went to the Covered Bridge Tree Farm to get our tree, We love that place!! We got our tree from there last year, and Aidan was so tiny! I can't believe we are starting on his "seconds"! Second Thanksgiving...Second Christmas...

Thanksgiving and Snow!

We went to Todd and Maya's Cabin for Thanksgiving. Todd and my (Cyndi) Dad are first cousins. Todd, Maya and their family have taken such amazing care of us this past year! We pray that God blesses them like they have blessed us!

We had a great time playing games, hanging out and eating of course!

It started snowing huge flakes and I realized it was really Aidan's first snow (he was too little to care last year). So we went out quickly (freezing!!). He loved it. He was very cute!

Dr. Joanne Virgilio

On November 21 I had an appointment with my Oncologist, Dr. Virgilio. This was actually the first time I have ever seen her because I was seeing specialists in Denver. Since surgery I have wondered what would happen now. I knew I would get CT scans, but didn't feel like I was under the care of a cancer doctor (my Dr's in Montrose are great and take amazing care of me, but I need more), I was kinda in limbo or something. Anyway I had my appointment and it was great. Dr. Virgilio knew my entire history already! She is fantastic! I had to get some blood drawn (already had my first scan) and I will see Dr. Virgilio again in 3 months, after I get more blood and another scan. Then I will see her in 6 months from then, then in a year, then every 2 years. I feel really good about it because even though I am currently cancer free (I'M A CANCER SURVIVOR!! :) ), we are on top of it and I am being taken care of!

It was actually really hard to go to her office! It brought back lots of scary feelings, but mostly I was thinking of all of the other people there with me. They are in all different stages of the process, some just getting a diagnosis, some in treatment and some are in the end of treatment or even their lives! That is so overwhelming to think of, especially because I know how they feel. It is so hard to face your mortality and think about your death. The month before my surgery I would video Aidan and I constantly, so if something happened he would have that. I wrote letters, got my will and power of attorney together. Jeff and I had to have some hard conversations. I couldn't believe I was 28 with a 7 month old and planning for "just in case". But, I can't imagine trying to go through this or plan if I didn't know where I get to spend eternity. Thank you Jesus for holding us in your arms, thank you that we know that no matter what we are in your care!

HERE IS THE PICTURE OF MY TUMOR! I NEVER POSTED IT! Just in case you don't know...It was on my appendix, and was 1.7 cm. It never showed up on any scans or lab work because it was .3 cm to small!!! But, if it had been 2 cm they would have had to take 1/2 of my colon!

Please pray for our close family friends. Their daughter was struck by a car while riding her bicycle home from school yesterday afternoon. Erica Forney, 9 years old. The doctors at children’s Hospital have informed her parents, Darren and Shelly Forney, that there is no hope and that they have to turn the machine off. Also in September Gene Forney (Erica's Grandpa) was in a terrible car accident and is still in serious condition. Please pray, I can't begin to imagine the horror and grief they are going through. I don't know what else to say.

Please pray for us today, but mostly Jeff. He has to turn in his badge today. He is offically no longer a police officer with the Montrose Police Department. For those of you who don't know, Jeff had another seizure and can't drive until January. The Chief and HR could accomidate him, but refuse. Because they are unwilling to accomidate him (like they have before with Jeff and others) he has used all of his family leave time for the year. So they are fireing him. Jeff is so good and passionate about his job. We feel like we are loosing our PD family, the patrol officers have taken care of us and we love them so much. We are looking at jobs in GJ, so we are also loosing our community and home.

I am so sorry that I haven't bloged in so long!! It was so much easier when I was recovering and all I had to do was lay in bed! The fundraiser was so amazing! Our sweet boy turned 1! On Thursday we had Aidan's first 1st birthday party (he had two)! It was a wonderful day! Our friends Matt and Emily came from Denver to celebrate. We started the day with A shaped blueberry birthday pancakes. Then Emily and I baked for 6 hours. Matt and Jeff kept Aidan busy and did dishes all day! :) We had a huge party with family and friends! There were 83 of you here! We love you all! Thank you for celebrating what a joy Aidan is with us!

Jeff can't drive for 3 months. This news was devastating to him. He took it really hard. This obviously affects his job. As of right now he will not be able to work for the next three months, which is also devastating to him. We are praying that the PD will be able to work out something like they did in January. He loves his job and is so good at it. Please pray for him.

We went down for the Palin rally on Monday! I felt so privileged to see her and be there with thousands and thousands of people that share the morals and values that we hold so dear! We made shirts: The kids said "Very Young Republican, I'm Not a Choice I'm a Child", ours said "Young Republican", our parents said "Not Quite as Young Republican" and our grandparents said "Young at Heart Republican". We are very passionate about our beliefs especially for the rights of the unborn children. Jeff read "Why I'm a Reagan Conservative" to Aidan when I was still pregnant!

Another Prayer Request

Jeff had another seizure yesterday. He has obviously been under lots of stress and taking great care of Aidan and I. He was also very dehydrated. But we still haven't heard what the Dr's want to do if anything. He also just hates this, he doesn't want it to be a big deal and doesn't want to feel different. He is feeling pretty well, just really tired, it really takes it out of him. We are emotionally and physically so drained. Just when we think we can't handle anything else, we get stretched more! I know that God won't give us more than we can handle and that he will walk us through everything, but sometimes it feels like it will never end. Thank you!

Aidan took his first steps and I caught it on video!! I was recording his awesome dance moves and then he nonchelantly took a step!! I must apologize for the squealing Mama and bad comentary. Dad missed it but stoped by for a dinner break and Aidan took a couple steps to him! We are so blessed to get to be his Mama and Dad!!

Detective Haifley?!?

So we have another prayer request to ask of you! :) Jeff has put in for a Detective position at the Montrose PD. He loves patrol and the guys he works with, but the detectives don't do the shift work and we would love that!! He will do testing on October 28th. Thanks!!

By the way...I am healing up well, just trying to take it easy. I am really low on energy. Aidan is saying NO!! He is so close to walking. We just can't believe he is almost one!

Update on Me!

Yes it is me, Cyndi! Can you believe it? I am sorry that I can not respond to every one of you posts, but there are just too many! I love you all and appreciate you so much! Thank you Jeff, Mom and Jess for keeping the Blog updated!

I am doing better and better every single day. Yesterday was better than today, but after staying in bed most of the day. I feel good this evening and even sat outside for a bit. I am trying not to push it when I do feel good, so I don't set my self back. As long as we stay on top of the pain and don't get behind the meds I do pretty well. I went to Dr. Gilham today (My surgeon said I could see him and not go back to Denver for a check up). Everything is healing well, he took the bandages off so the incisions could get some air because I am allergic to the adhesive and have rashes and scabs around each incision. He said that he knows he tells us this everything he sees us, but he really shouldn't have taken the original biopsy's, everything really looked good. Because he did that we caught the cancer so early. I told him it was a miracle and we are so thankful. He said he was thankful too, that he listened to the nudge from above. I cry every time I tell this story. How amazing is our God!?!?! He has preformed so many miracles for us since Aidan's accident in December.

**Side note if you don't know: In December Jeff accidentally dropped Aidan (about 6 ft, in our kitchen). Aidan was flown by helicopter to GJ. Then in the following 2 months Jeff had 2 Grand Mal Seizures and couldn't drive for 3 months.**

And now God has healed me through the amazing talent and wisdom he gave our surgeon. The Montrose PD and all of Jeff's co-workers have so great!

I can not tell you how much each one of you bless us! The out poring of prayers, love, support, food has been overwhelming! No words can tell you how grateful and thankful we are to you! All we can do is pray that God will bless you as much as you have blessed us! I pray that we can help Him to do that!!!! Sweet Dreams!

Happy to be Home

We got home last night around 9:30pm. It was sort of a late night but much easier than having to travel across the mountains in a car. Cyndi's Aunt Rachel met us at the airport in GJ and let us take her car home to Montrose. It was so nice to be able to sleep in our own beds. Thanks to everyone for taking care of our home and yard while we were away.

Cyndi is doing pretty well. Yesterday was hard, thank God (and the Bromley's) we didn't have to drive. Cyndi actually slept through the night, which was good but it set her back a bit on pain medication. Her incisions are hurting quite a bit, the surgery was definately was more than an appendectomy (she has 5 incisions on her abdomen). I'm just so glad that she is out of the hospital.

We packed up (Aidan played) and came home! Our friens Matt and Email (Email and Cyndi have been best friends since 5th grade) bought us plane tickets to fly to GJ! It was such a blessing! Aidan learned what a Doggie says and loves to do it! Everytime he sees or hears a dog (and even when he doesn't!) he barks! He was even panting one day like a dog after spending quality time with Violet (our cousins, the Haynes, baby bulldog). He also loves to wave hi or bye bye to anyone and everything (even a car driving by).

Here is a slide show of our time in Denver, both before and after surgery. I am so glad Cyndi is out of the hospital. I think I told her that 10 times today. Aidan was also happy to have her back. We are planning on leaving our home away from home (which has been such a blessing)and heading towards home Saturday. We are not sure if Cyndi can make it to Montrose in one day so we may not be home until Sunday. I think that lots of people do not comment because you think it is too hard. Getting out of the hospital!!!

The injections have provided the releif that Cyndi needed. They are going to release her from the hospital today. She showered for the first time, this morning, and is ready to get out of here. The shower pretty much wore her out, so she's resting as I write this. She's going to have to take it easy for a while of course. Please help her to not push it! She likes to do to much to fast! It's good that she has so many around her to help take care of her. I hope that you all know that we (Cyndi, Jeff, Greg and Chris - Jeff's parents and Scott and I) appreciate your love, prayers, and help too.

Last night was a little eventful. Cyndi woke up with her roommate pushing the curtain back and standing at Cyndi's bedside staring at her a
nd talking in coherntly. Oh my goodness. It scared her so bad. Imanaging the picture makes me laugh (seriously, if you could see her roommate you'd laugh too - it's a really funny picture - Cyndi all wide eyed with this scarey woman standing over her), and that may be one of the reasons that Cyndi says that I'm not a good nurse. I truly can't imagine her saying that about me. Rude! She says that I'm a good mom and advocate but not a good nurse - thats why her sweet mom-in-law was here. She took care of the nursing stuff. And Cyndi had the pleasure of two moms taking care of her.

Well, I have to get her ready to go so I'm signing off for now (I doubt she'll ever let me have control of her Blog again so I'll send my love to you all now). Suzan - Cyndi's incredibly thankful to God for His faithfulness, provision, and care, Mom

God answered our prayers regarding the "snoring and rest request" we all petitioned Him for. We don't really know if there was any snoring or not. They gave Cyndi a sleep aid at midnight, and boy did she sleep. She was still asleep at noon! In and out but mostly OUT of it.

This afternoon: They injected Cyndi, with some sort of numbing stuff, at specific "trigger points" on her face, scalp, neck and down her back. The doctor said that this will give the nerves a rest for a while (it could be for minutes, hours, days or possibly weeks). We don't have any word about when she gets to leave this wonderful place. Pray and pray that it's tomorrow! She is so ready to get out of here and get to sleep in her own bed - or any bed, other than a hospital bed, for that matter. Poor little Aidan has come to the same conclusion (yes, he's talking well enough to tell us that - actually it's the screams that we understand). No, he's been incredible. He'll be even better when those little teeth come in. He gets so excited when we walk into Cyndi's room and he sees his mommy's face - he dives for her arms and buries his face in her shoulder. They snuggle and watch 'Signing Time' for a while.

PLEASE PRAY...this is from CYNDI...she has been assigned a roommate with a serious snoring problem. Please pray that Cyndi is able to sleep and the roommate does not keep her up all night. Her original Doctor...Dr. G is back and in charge. She is very encouraged by this and really trusts him. I will update tomorrow.

Cyndi Sue is in room 619 at U of C Hospital. They are controling her pain with the med's. Yesterday was a long one. I (Suzan, Cyndi's mom) have grown to not like the ER here very much (I had the pleasure of spending the night in there the night of Cyndi's surgery - it appears that I have worried myself sick. That makes me kind of mad at myself.) Ok, back to the ER - we are SOOO glad to be out of there, but honestly, were so thankful for the relief from the pain that they provided for Cyndi. Aidan is doing better. He's drinking pedialyte. He's sleeping in his stroller beside his mommy's bed right now.

20 minutes later...
The "Pain Team" (including the anaesthesiologist who did Cyndi's surgery) came in to examine and talk with Cyndi. It sounds like they they are now leaning toward her needing a "blood patch" to patch a leak that may have happened with the epidural. They have gone to consult with the cheif anaesthesiologist and will get back to us later. We feel like we finally have someone who is listening to her regarding the amount of pain she is in and that help is on the way. Thank You God.

15 minutes later...
Things are happening fast now... thank you again Father. The Anaesthesiologist came back. She has instructed Cyndi to drink all the caffine that she can for the next 24 hours as well as laying as flat as she can - as much as she can. They will keep her another night for sure and then we will see what happens tomorrow. Cyndi is sad and really needs to rest. The pain has kept her from resting for the most part. She just wants to go home. We love you and are thankful for your prayers.

Thank you all for your prayers, Cyndi was able to get some rest last night. There is still no EXACT reason for the pain, they are working to see if it is a nerve or muscle issue. She was able to get up and take a short walk today, which she wasn't able to do yesterday. He's in control of all this, we have to remember that.

Admitted Tonight

It's a bit after 9pm and I just got at call from Suzan. They are just NOW admitting Cyndi to the hospital. The update on the MRI is that it didn't show any spinal fluid leaking (if any very minor). Everything looked right so they consulted the anesthesiologist who administered the epidural in Cyndi at the time of the surgery. His notes said the original placement of the epidural needle hit her bone and was then move a bit to left and went in well. The pain may be a result from the needle hitting and bruising the bone. During her time in the ER she was on an IV for pain and was still in extreme discomfort. The reason for staying at the hospital is to control the pain. They will be giving her some oral meds through the night and if those don't work they will have other drugs as a back up.

...sidenote...Little Aidan is having a rough time with teething. He's not eating or drinking much and is back at the house in Denver with Cyndi's dad.

Cyndi has had so much pain in her back and also head aches that they decided to take her into the ER. The pain has gotten worse over time and even the pain killers are not decreasing the pain. Everything in the actual surgery area is tolerable/normal discomfort, but it's her lower back that is putting her in agonizing pain. They think it has to do with the epidural site. As of right now the hospital is working on controlling the pain in order to get her in for a MRI. Once they know more, another update will come. For the time being, please pray for her and wisdom for the docs there to know how to handle this situation.

Cyndi made it to their friend's house today. The 20 minute drive took a bit of a tole on her. They are leaving the departure for Montrose up in the air until they know how she will do in the next day or so. Again, thank you for all your prayers and support. Aidan is loving having his mom close where he can sit with her on the couch and "tell" her about his day. As far as the pain goes...it's pretty painful. If she stays on the meds, she does well...otherwise she's really sore. I hope to actually talk with her tomorrow, if that happens I'll post a more detailed update. I (Jess Pollard) just got an update from Cyndi's mom. She's out of the recovery room and into a private room (919). She will be there until tomorrow and will then spend a few days resting at their friend's house in Denver. If you are interested in sending flowers, it would probably be best to wait until she gets home and can enjoy them there. Also, Suzan said Aidan was VERY excited to see his mom. They thank you all for your prayers.

PRAISE THE LORD...
Dr. Gonzalez just gave us good news about Cyndi's surgery! He found one small tumor (1.7 cm) on the tip of her appendix. So Dr. Gonzalez took her appendix out. He said that he checked every inch of her stomach, liver, kidney, bowel, colon...The only other thing that he found was two spots on her uterus that he took a biopsy of. He showed the spots on her uterus to a Gynecologist and he said they didn't look bad but wanted a biopsy done anyway. Dr. Gonzalez also said that besides the two spots on her uterus it looked good and that her ovaries looked good too, which is great news for Aidan to have siblings!

Dr. Gonzalez didn't treat Cyndi's abdomen with chemotherapy because he didn't think there was any reason to, which is great because he would have had to do a very high concentration of chemotherapy. If Cyndi had to be treated with chemo it would have made the recovering longer and harder. He was very excited that he only found the one tumor. Cyndi will have to have follow up CT scans done every 3-6 months or so to make sure that nothing else pops up that they didn't find.

Dr. Gonzalez said that if she felt well enough that she wouldn't have to spend the night in the hospital, but we're going make her so that she can rest! He said that if the tumor would have been over 2 cm he would have also removed her right colon. The surgery stayed laparoscopic, which means that she only has a few tiny incisions instead of having to open up her entire abdomen. The surgery only lasted about 2 to 2 1/2 hours, which was encouraging.

We are so excited that something was found and that it was removed without having to be very extensive. Thank you so much for all your support and prayers, it made a huge impact for us! We were overwhelmed with the blessings that we have received during this time from everyone. We're jumping up and down with thankfulness and joy! God is good and he is faithful. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I am having surgery today (in 7 hours)! I check in at the hospital at 5:45am and surgery is at 7:30am. I am amazingly calm! God has really given me a peace that passes all understanding, not to mention a fantastic support system! My family and friends are so so amazing! I couldn't do this without them! We are blessed! THANK YOU! On Tuesday some great friends helped me clean my house, watch Aidan and then prayed for me. It was so precious! The cleaning helped so much, but the prayer and fellowship were so refreshing. There are hundreds of stories of support, you all take such good care of us! I really am at a loss of words! You all just astound us and bless us so much! There is so much I want to say but don't know where to begin and once I do how would I end!?! So I will just say good night and I love you. I thank Jesus for putting each of you in our lives and what a gift each of you truly are to us! We are praying that our testimony when this is done will change lives and hearts toward Jesus, and I can't ask for more than that! He will take the bad and use it to Glorifly Him and I praise Him for that wonderful fact! Won't it be magnificint to see what He does with this!! I can't wait! How exciting! Thank you for continuing to pray for me, Jeff, Aidan, my family and my Dr's! All my love!

We are in Denver now, staying at friends house. They are out of town and blessed us with their home! It is so nice and much better than a hotel! We are so comfortable and feel so at home here. What a Wonderful Wednesday

We planned Wednesday to be a great relaxing day! My cousin Todd flew us to Rifle! I love flying! It is such an amazing perspective! He even made me fly! I was so stressed out! The Mesa is starting to change colors just a little! My cousin Brian picked us up and we got to hang out with him a little. Then Mom and Dad met us and we went swimming in Glenwood Springs. Then we met a friend and her family (Laura, Ted and Hagan. Laura and I were neighbors in 1st grade and haven't seen eachother in at least 16 years!! It was amazing to see her! I love her family. I didn't get a picture and I am so mad! What a great day! It was a huge blessing and the whole day was a gift from God!

Our Garden and Yard

Our yard has come a long way! It still has a bit to go, but we are proud of it! We have had lots of help and appreciate all of it so so much! Jeff's parents helped lots with design, building the garden boxes, lots of weed pulling and his Mom helped me put in the garden. They gave us lots of hands on and over the phone help! My dad and brother helped Jeff put in the sprinkiling system. Courtney and my Mom helped with ideas and weeds. Our cousins Todd and Maya own Haynes Excivation and I can't begin to tell you how much they have done!! All the beautiful rocks for the back wall and the front island are from their property. We couldn't have done this with out them!! Thank you everyone!! I am so proud of my garden! It is so rewarding and fun to grow and eat your own veggies!

Swim Day

I took Leah and Aidan to Jodi's house for a swim day. Tiff, Jacob and Libby met us there. It was so much fun. I am just getting to know Jodi and I love her and am so thankful for our new friendship. She is also Tiff's cousin so we are almost related! :) It was so fun to hang with the girls and get to see Tiff and the kids too! I wish I had picts of the girls! These two are so funny!! Leah just loves this boy! She calls him her baby. She was in the fort and would call his name and he would crawl in and then right back out. Then they would crawl around the perimeter of the fort and it would all start again and they did this for like half an hour!! It was hilarious.

Jeremiah and Caleb came up for a visit! We were going to go swimming or to the Black Canyon, but it rained on and off all day! So instead we made pancakes (Aidan had his first pancake!! No syrup for him!), built a fort (Aidan's first fort!), made homemade pizza and watched a movie! It was a great day!! There are so many pictures I have to do another slide show! We had a great day!

We went camping for the first and last time for the summer August 15-17, '08! We went up near Silverjack. It was absolutely beautiful! We were right by a stream and there was even a home made swing at the camp site! It was perfect. It was also the first time Aidan has been camping!

We are teaching Aidan sign language. Yesterday he started signing the word more!! It looks like it he is just clapping, but it is clapping with a purpose! He has been signing milk for a while now. Baby's are so much smarter then we give them credit for! Aidan learns so many new things every day that we can hardly keep up! Now we are working on please.

Officer Haifley Attacked!!

Jeff was attacked by two vicious dogs today!! Mini doberman pincher's! One of them hung on to his leg and the dog was completely off the ground!! Ouch! Jeff had to go to the hospital and get a tetanus shot and a prescription! His legs actually look worse than the pictures show!

It has been so hard to try to keep everyone updated, actually it has been impossible! So this way everyone can stay up to date. The Rest of the Story...

On June 18, 2008 I had a routine laparoscopic surgery. I was recovering well and on June 25 my doctor, Dr. Gilham (who did the surgery) called to tell me that he had taken some biopsies that came back irregular. He said that they found cells that were either cancer or pre-cancer (3 of the 4 biopsies). He was on vacation and The Mayo Clinic had called him. He didn't want to wait until he came back to work the following Monday. He is a very kind and amazing man. Ever since we first met him (when I got pregnant with Aidan), we've thanked God to have such a wonderful doctor. Jeff and I lost it. We didn't even know what to do with this information! There wasn't very much to go off of yet. Dr. Gilham's nurse made an appointment for me to see a cancer specialist the next day (one of the longest 24 hour periods of our lives!!). He said that I have carcinoid tumors (a very rare type of cancer). They are almost always malignant and are usually found by accident. He scheduled lots of tests and scans so that we could confirm that it was this type of tumor, how many, how big and to figure out exactly what to do from there.

Since that appointment and others (including an appointment with my specialist, Dr. Kane, in Denver), I've had lots of lab work, scans (I found out I'm allergic to the contrast for the CT scan!!), a colonoscopy, endoscopy, capsule endoscopy (swallowed a pill that took thousands of picts), more bioposies and other tests, we have found out that I actually have a rare subtype of a carcinoid tumor, which are malignant. They have been unable to locate the exact location of the tumor or tumors. They think that they are really small and are just not showing up yet. Which is wonderful because we have caught it really early, but it is also frustrating because we can't find them!!

Today is August 20, 2008. We left Aidan in Montrose, with our incredible cousins Todd and Maya. It was very hard for me to leave him, but was the best thing for him today. We are going to Denver, and back, in one day for an appointment with a surgeon to talk about the next step. I pray for wisdom for him to know what needs to be done for me. I guess it is a pretty big surgery.
God is so faithful and has provided us with great peace. Here is a verse that we now understand more and love (a few people we love dearly told us this verse!): 2 Chronicles 20, it talks about how the Israelites didn't have the power to fight an unseen vast army, but they worship the Lord and He defeats the enemy for them! They don’t even have to fight! And because they trusted in Him, He not only won the battle for them he rewarded them!
These songs have also come to mean a lot to us; "Praise You In This Storm" by Casting Crowns and "I Still Believe" by Jeremy Camp. I would encourage you to listen to these great songs and read this bible passage. We all face difficult things in our lives and if we trust God he will take care of the battle for us, even if it is in a different way than we would have thought, and then He will use the hard situation for good and to glorify Him! We love you all and thank you for the precious gift from God that you are to us!

Surgeon Consultation in DenverAugust 20, 2008

We (Jeff, Dad, Mom and I) met with the surgeon, Dr. Gonzalez, yesterday in Denver. He confirmed that the type of cancer that I have is very rare. They still don’t know the exact location of the tumor (or tumors). He said he agrees with the other Doctors, in that they all think that there is a source that we need to find. The other possibility is that the lining of my abdomen has tumors on it, however that would be so rare that they would write papers about it if that is the case. So, surgery is scheduled for September 19th at the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver. They will start laparoscopicly and hopefully find it - and then get it all out. That is supposed to last around five hours and would be around a three to five day hospital stay. If they can’t find it laparoscopicly they will have to do a large incision (low chest all the way down) and a more extensive surgery that could last up to 13 hours, with a hospital stay of up to 15 days. If they have to open me up more they might do a chemo wash, they put the chemo right into my abdomen and wash it around for about 90 min. We are all praying that it will be the easy find! I’m standing on the scripture that God has given to me in II Chronicles 20. I know that He is going before me to fight this battle. I know that the doctors can say what they want but God is bigger than any of it and He IS in control. I trust Him. We am really tired and really overwhelmed.
